John Gilliland has personally overseen the development of 13 self storage facilities starting with the raw land, obtaining the approvals, and constructing the improvements.

A native of Pennsylvania, he received his degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. After many years in the California commercial investment real estate market as a top producer, he returned to his home state to manage brokerage teams for Bennett Williams and High Industries of Lancaster, PA. Realizing the great need for a specialist in the growing self storage industry, he established Investment Real Estate, LLC, in 1998 to specialize solely in the brokerage of self storage facilities.

John has earned the respect of his colleagues, being elected President of the Pennsylvania Self Storage Association in 2001. In 2003 he was elected to a three-year term as a Director to the National Self Storage Association, the governing body in the self storage industry. He is President-elect of the Board of Directors for 2007. He has been and is a speaker at numerous self storage conventions and conferences, writes articles for several self storage publications, and provides expert testimony on behalf of his clients.

Rodney E. Lockard
Vice President - Construction

Rod has over 25 years experience within the construction industry. He assumed the presidency and ownership of his family's general contracting firm, Lockard Inc., in the mid-1980's. Expanding the firm to include design/build, a metal building dealership, and a partnership with a regional architectural firm, Lockard Inc. was acquired by a large NE regional construction firm. Lockard spearheaded the transition for 1 ½ years, followed by joining a York-based architectural firm. After assisting self storage clients in the approval and construction of other facilities, Rod was recruited to IREC to lead the construction management firm. Providing Construction Management Services for owners of self storage facilities completes the total package for Investment Real Estate, offering quality and expert team assistance to the self storage business.
